About

Avelaine Leroy is a self-taught artist based in Nice, south of France. After studying philosophy, she rekindled her first passions, drawing and painting, in order to fully realize her lifelong dream: to be an artist. While she’s loved creating since she was little, she didn’t think she was legitimate until late (like many creatives, right?).

Fortunately, after two decades of trial and error and a rather joyful midlife crisis, she decided to become a full-time professional artist with one goal: never cry while singing Claude Dubois’s song Blues du businessman. Yes, Avelaine Leroy loves corny songs… Anyway, art is definitely now her reason for living and the best thing she can do for herself and for others.

Today, her polymorphic art is expressed through various medium, both digital and visual, even though she particularly enjoys portraits and female nudes. She calls herself an « artiste à femmes » and one question haunts her: how can she capture the sacred feminine?

While women have a privileged place in her creations, animals and nature are equally dear to her. When she’s not painting, she devotes herself to beekeeping, which mostly consists in observing her bees with delight while drinking a delicious herbal tea (thyme most of the time). For this reason, 5% of the sales of her artwork are donated to the association Pollinis which supports bee protection.

You can now discover her colorful world and admire or purchase her pieces of art in the online store.
